Like other historical seamed flutes, the tone colour tends to be sweeter with a wood-like quality. It’s ability to offer exacting tone colours, balanced harmonics, deeper resonance, and minimal mechanical vibration have resulted in the 1607’s reputable ability to execute extremes of expression with ease.

	Powell Handmade Wood Custom srbe Silver Keywork All grendilla wood head body and foot with solid Sterling keys, A=442, B foot, open holes, split E mechanism, French pointed arms.   omments: This special and wonderful instrument is designed to be comfortable in the hands and easy to play with the acoustical and organic qualities of wood. It gives a wonderful texture to the sound and has a number of advantages. First, temperature is more stable and therefore pitch control is easier to maintain. Secondly, the darker colour of the sound affords much easier blending with oboe and clarinet. And thirdly, less energy is required to play with the same integrity to the sound at lower dynamic levels. This flute is being seriously adopted by many leading players around the world.

	Powell Handmade 14K ST srbec# 4K solid Rose Gold tubing with silver soldered tone holes and silver ribbing and keys, A=442, open holes, split E mechanism, French pointed arms, B foot, offset G, C# trill.   Comments: The combination of the 14K tubing on this flute with silver soldered tone holes, ribbing and keys creates a very effective balance between the weight and density of the gold and the easy response of silver. The playing result is one of a distinctive evenness to the sound throughout the range often not found on gold flutes.
