Our definition of a beginner flute is one which is all silver plated or only a silver lip plate and has been mass produced with minimum or no hand finishing. We only select the best quality instruments which will have the best tuning, design, manufacturing quality and playability. This level of instrument should enable a student to progress as high as Grade Six in AMEB system.

Jupiter Model 515se
All silver plated, c foot, covered holes, offset G, split e mechanism, straight and curved head in one case.
Comment: Generally speaking it is advisable for a student to play on a curved head model flute up to about age 10, depending on overall body size, length of arms, size of hands etc. The use of the curved head encourages the arms to be closer to the body and thereby cause minimal rotation of the spine. Therefore this model, having both curved and straight heads offers the ideal combination of features to facilitate that transition. By having the two headjoints in the one case the student can easily move from the curved head to the straight one and the costs of changing the whole flute over sooner is avoided.

Jupiter Model 511se
All silver plated, c foot, covered holes, offset G, split E mechanism.
Comment: The addition of a split e mechanism facilitates getting the third register E with the same ease as other sounds and also results in better tuning of that pitch. Generally considered to be worth the extra money.

French pointed arm keywork, silver plated body and keywork, C foot, open holes, offset G, split E mechanism.

Jupiter Model 511sre
All silver plated, c foot, covered holes, offset g, split E mechanism and open holes.
Comment: Open holes or French model as it also commonly referred to is where five of the touches are perforated requiring exact covering of those holes for effective production of the sound. This feature is generally favoured by most professional flute players and many students now seek to emulate this, however it is not recommended where the hands are not big enough and only makes a small difference to the sound quality.
