Pointed arms are indicative of a higher level of flute making, as they require more skill, time and precision to produce. They allow for a lighter touch and keep your flute in better adjustment than Y-arms, which means fewer trips to the repair shop! Easy to play, these models are attractive to flutists who prefer lighter weight flutes with less resistance. The quality of the scale, headjoint, and mechanism is consistent with the higher priced soldered tone hole models.

Each sterling silver Conservatory instrument possesses the special sonority, scale and colour for which Powell flutes are known. Handmade Conservatory flutes are offered with the identical hand cut headjoints that are provided with Powell’s handmade Custom flutes. The Boston style headjoint combines its own graceful embouchure plate with modern undercutting techniques. 	Conservatory Handmade CH-A9 srbec# 9K Aurumite head body and foot with solid silver keys, drawn tone holes, solid 9K lip with silver riser, B foot, open holes, split E mechanism, French pointed arms, offset G, split E mechanism, C# trill.   Comments: Aurumite is the unique combination of sterling silver and gold, developed by Powell in 1987, and used for Handmade flutes since then. Through a patented fusion process, Powell produces flute tubing made of interlocking layers of gold and silver. The Handmade Conservatory version of Aurumite is called 'Aurumite A9'. The outer layer of the flute is 9K rose gold, which is metallurgically fused to an inner layer of sterling silver. It is not made with plating or bonding. In fact an Aurumite 9K flute body contains 25 times more gold than a 24 karat gold plated flute body, and the embouchure plate is solid gold. The gold in the Aurumite 9K produces a warm and darker quality, while retaining the resonance and projection of silver. There is nothing like the Conservatory Handmade Aurumite A9 on the market for quality or price. Aurumite can be heat hardened, work hardened, and polished.
